At the exact
moment the February 5, 2008 EF4 tornado struck
Union University's campus, the school's student
body, faculty and staff gave thanks for their
many blessings.
At 7:02 p.m.
Friday night, the university held a night of
worship and praise at the Bowld Student Commons
Building. The building's grand opening was
earlier this week, making it the final structure
to be rebuilt that was destroyed in the storm.
After every student escaped with their lives
from the tornado's direct hit, leaders say it is
important for students to remember all the help
the community gave that night. They say they are
grateful they were able to rebuild bigger and
better than ever after the storm.
"We never dreamed
that we could be given a gift this beautiful for
our students," said Dean of Students Kimberly
Thornbury.
