A 23 year veteran of the Madison
County Sheriff's Department has been demoted after an
internal investigation found he was drunk when he wrecked
his department vehicle.
Sergeant Asa Duncan has been
demoted to deputy and moved from criminal investigations to
non-enforcement duties. Investigators said Duncan was
off-duty when the January 29 wreck occurred. He has also
been suspended without pay for five days.
